University of Greenwich Cheerleading: Greenwich Mermaids
Fancy competing across the country and meeting a great group of students whilst doing so?
Whether you're just starting at the University or continuing, joining the University of Greenwich Mermaids is a great way to improve fitness and flexibility as well having a great time!
Cheerleading is one of the fastest growing sports in Britain, and here at Greenwich we are no exception! With both competitive and social elements to our team, we like to work hard and play hard. Being a Cheerleader is all about having a good time, and everyone is welcome to come and be a part of our friendly and fun-loving squad!
Anyone is welcome to join, whether you’re male, female, a cheerleader, dancer, gymnast or just fancy trying something a bit different. We welcome ALL abilities, and our experienced coaches will build your skills and train everyone from the ground upwards, and we have different squads to match your skills.
CHEER TEAMS
Competitive
We compete in the All Girl Level 1 division at both regionally and nationally.
Varsity: Non-Competitive
We also have a non-competing squad for those who don't meet our comp requirements, although this will be regularly monitored and altered where necessary, as well as for those who simply don't wish to compete but want to be a part of the team. Cheer is perfect for those who wish to keep fit, make friends and potentially try something new. Our varsity team cheer on our fellow TeamGreenwich sports teams and have various performances at the Varsity day towards the end of the year!

Monday training takes place at Talent Central Cheer and Dance, St Marks Industrial Park, 439 North Woolwich Road, London, E16 2BS (The closest station is Pontoon Dock DLR)
Tuesdays 20:00 - 22:00
Tuesday training takes place at the University of Greenwich: Avery Hill Campus
Extra Bits
It’s not all about training and competitions. We hold socials every 2 weeks which are always a good laugh, and give you the opportunity to mix with the other sports teams and societies. This year we’ve got some great nights out planned already; some will be fancy dress and some will be dress to impress but no matter what you’re wearing, our socials are always an entertaining night! As well as the opportunity at socials to get to know the rest of the Team Greenwich sports clubs, we also go on a Sports Tour! For a few days over Easter every year we go away with all the other teams to catch some sun, wear some amazing costumes and sometimes play a bit of sport. This year we will be going to Spain with Outgoing.
