What is a Programme Rep and what do they do?

Programme Representatives (more commonly known as Programme Reps) get elected by YOU, in class, at the beginning of your first year in your programme of study. There should be 2 Programme Reps for each programme’s year of study. These Programme Reps are the front line and foundation of the Student Representation system within the University and Students’ Union. It is their job to spend time finding out the good, the bad, and the ugly about what it’s like to be a student on your programme. They are fully trained by the Students’ Union and supported by specific staff members throughout their term as Reps. They attend Departmental meetings at the University in order to raise student concerns and opinions and they attend Forums and various gatherings at the Students’ Union to make sure the SU knows what’s going on.

Programme Reps are elected in the first few weeks of term; these elections are held in your lectures and the names are passed from your lecturers to the Students’ Union.
