    Lecturer Coursework Deadline Commitment

    Current
A commitment from all current university lecturers to adhere to agreed dates for return of marked coursework. Given our own penalties for late submissions, there should equally be a penalty on behalf of lecturers if coursework is not marked in the allotted time. Our course handbook states that 15 days is the time allotted for the return of marked work, however, this is not the reality for many pieces of work. Furthermore, our handbooks state that we are expected to balance university life and work life, and that these are not valid reasons for missing coursework deadlines or scheduled lectures/seminars. This should apply both ways.

3:10pm on 19 Mar 18 At the moment the sanction for lecturers not submitting feedback or marks within the deadline without due reason is that they won't be paid. What sanction would you suggest/prefer?

4:05pm on 19 Mar 18 Hey Sascha, thank you so much for this suggestion and everyone else for commenting as well! This (still) seems to be an issue across the board and you're completely right - staff should be sanctioned just as students are. We have forwarded this to our Rep team to implement a system where students can report lecturers/coursework that isn't returned in time. Myself and the VP-Education are closely working with Karen Bryan who is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). I will pick this idea up with her as I am sure she'll feel very positive for us to monitor issues like this on a course level. Best, Meike - SU President
