Feminism is 'the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.' As a collect, feminists aim to support feminism as a movement by campaigning to defend the equal political, economic, social, and cultural rights of women.
As a society, we want to support the feminist movement and encourage both our members as well as students and staff outside the society to embrace the movement and its values. We are hoping to do so by learning and teaching each other on the key points of feminism, dispelling myths and helping the university, the Students’ Union, individuals and society to rid themselves from sexism and the clutches of patriarchy!
Over the next year, we are planning to hold regular meetings, may they be under a certain theme or just grabbing a coffee or drink as well as bringing back our beloved Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance, short: SHAG, week for its third year running! In addition, we are hoping to collaborate with even more fellow societies than in previous years, to invite guest speakers to give virtual or on campus talks.
Our society is free to join, and you can do so easily by clicking the link on the right hand side. To not miss any of our events and updates, you can follow us on Instagram @uogfeminism or join our Facebook group called University of Greenwich Feminism Society (just make sure you answer the membership questions). If you have any questions, you can always message us on social media or write us an email on feminismuog@gmail.com.
