UCU Strike Support Referendum 2023
Should GSU support the 18 days of UCU Strike Action between March and April 2023?
Back
In November 2022, GSU Officers asked the Student Community via Student Assembly whether Greenwich Students’ Union should support the current UCU dispute in which Student Assembly voted 76% in favour of support, a stance that Greenwich Students’ Union continue to hold.
However, In January 2023, UCU announced a further 18 days of strike action to take place across February and March in addition to a marking and assessment boycott in April. Since the vote at Student Assembly and the news surrounding additional dates, GSU Officers have received significant feedback from students regarding strike impact to their studies.
In reference to this and effectively representing student opinion, Greenwich Students’ Union Trustee Board has triggered a referendum to decide what position GSU should take on the current and upcoming strike action.
Greenwich Students' Union are now asking the student body at the University of Greenwich:
Should GSU support the 18 days of UCU Strike Action between March and April 2023?
