Hi there! I'm Nele, one of your four GSU Officers. I'm very excited to to work for you! My main priorities as a GSU Officer are Liberation, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Student Groups, the Refugee Scholarship programme, the Student Experience and many more!
Overall, I love talking to students and am very passionate about improving your experience, so if there is anything you'd like to chat about or need help with, please don't hesitate to drop me a message or find me in the GSU Office in Dreadnought. I can't wait to meet you!
How did you get involved in Greenwich Students' Union?
I first got involved with GSU as a bartender at the Lower Deck, our SU venue in the Dreadnought Building. From there on, I became President of the Feminism Society, a member of the Student Group Executive Committee, a barista in Change, a Community Organiser on campus, a Liberation Organiser for the Women's Liberation Network and just stayed involved in many different ways.
GSU is an extremely enriching and fun space, so I encourage you to try yourself out within it. If you are unsure how to get involved or have any concerns, please contact me and I will happily chat to you about this!
Tell us about your course at greenwich?
I studied English Literature, finishing my course in 2021. I love learning, reading and exploring different ideas so I had a blast! After my time as a GSU Officer, I plan to pursue a postgrad in Literature and to work in that field permanently. I'm also interested in studying Gender and Sexuality or Criminology and hope I can do so one day!
What makes you #ProudToBeGRE?
I'm #ProudToBeGRE because my time at Greenwich has really shaped me as a person and I am grateful for all experiences I made here. I'm proud to be part of such a large and diverse community. Now, as an Officer, I want to ensure your time here is as enjoyable as mine was. I want to advocate for you and work with you to make Greenwich the best place it can be. I'm #ProudToBeGRE because I am proud to work for you.
How would your friends describe you in three words?
Compassionate, Strong, Determined.
