Women-only gym sessions

We’re happy to announce that the University gyms on all three campuses will now be offering regular women-only sessions.

We’ve heard from many female students who feel uncomfortable or hesitant to use the gyms due to overcrowding, intimidation, or just wanting a more private space to train.

As part of our commitment to student well-being, your GSU Officers Ameen and Amrutha have pushed for dedicated women-only gym sessions. These will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to stay active in a comfortable environment.

Introduced in collaboration with the University, these sessions aim to remove the barriers that women face in using the gyms, and create a space where more people feel confident and encouraged to work out.

How to join the gym sessions

The sessions will be held on a weekly basis at the gyms at Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway. All you need to do is turn up and take part, no need to sign up in advance. The sessions are held at the following times:

  • Medway is on Monday 4-5pm
  • Avery hill is on Tuesday 4-5pm
  • Greenwich is on Thursday 3-5pm

To ensure that the space remains women only, there will be checks at the entrance. Only female staff members will be present to monitor access and make sure the sessions provide the safe and comfortable environment they are intended for.
