As we approach the end of Pride month, and London Pride this weekend, we want to take a moment to reflect on what this month means to you, students at Greenwich! Thanks to every student who filled in our survey, we’re pleased to share some thoughts, reflections and snapshots from your Pride month 2024. Keep an eye out for future giveaways during Liberation and History months, and take a look below to find out what Pride means to students at Greenwich!

Students who responded to our survey said that Pride was a time of ‘celebration’ for them, a chance to self-reflect, to express themselves without fear of judgement. Others said that this time was a chance to be ‘proud of something I’m part of, highlighting connections to community that feel heightened during Pride.

"Celebrating what it means to be truly yourself and understand yourself. It helps people to get to know themselves, see the true colours for who queer people are. Pride doesn't just celebrate being queer. It celebrates life and all the different walks through it.”

“Pride to live.”

“Acceptance and freedom”

A chance to celebrate who I am and who I love”

“Loving and accepting everyone for who they are, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.”

“Being able to love anyone you want to...”

From all of us at GSU, a very happy Pride! If you’re attending this weekend’s events, make sure to stay safe and hydrated, and have fun!

If you’d like to share your experiences being queer at Greenwich with us, there’s still time to fill in our giveaway survey! Get involved here.
