Greenwich Students’ Union (GSU) is a democratic organisation run by students, for students.  We represent all students at the University of Greenwich and provide a range of services to help you become your best.

Every year, you elect our student Officer Team. This includes our President and three full-time Officers. The team leads the work we do and represents your voice to the University at every level!

In March 2024 we launched our latest election, putting out the call for Change Makers to lead GSU in 2024/25.  Over 5,000 students voted, and you elected Ameen, Aminul, Amrutha and Sodiq as your 2024/25 Officer Team.

GSU President – Ameen Chowdhury

Ameen was elected as the GSU President for 2024/25 having received the most votes.

Ameen finished his degree in Psychology in May 2024. He’s an active member of the Greenwich Islamic Society and was a student staff member in the Global Greenwich team. He will be leading our Officer Team and plans to support all University of Greenwich students with a special focus on looking after the needs of students of all faith groups.

GSU Officer – Amrutha Gullapali

Amrutha is currently pursuing her MBA in International Business from Greenwich Business School. Amrutha loved attending our cultural events, last year’s Employability Week, as well as Lower Deck’s Wavey Wednesdays. As an Officer, she plans to improve students’ mental and physical wellbeing and work on campaigns related to employability prospects.

GSU Officer – Aminul Fahad

Aminul graduated from Greenwich Law School in the summer of 2023, and was re-elected as an Officer this year.

During his first tenure in the 2023/24 academic year, Aminul was the lead Officer for the Medway campus. He also led the campaign to tackle loneliness on university campuses. Going forward in his second tenure – Aminul wants to continue working on campaigns to introduce tuition fee instalments for International students and cutting the Medway bus fare.

GSU Officer – Sodiq Lawal

Sodiq graduated from Greenwich Business School in 2023 with a degree in Business Economics and was re-elected as an Officer this year.

During his first tenure in the 2023/24 academic year, Sodiq led a campaign to open Postgraduate Research Rooms (PGR) at Greenwich and Medway campuses. Going forward in his second tenure – Sodiq aims to continue working on lobbying the University for affordable and diverse food options at the Avery Hill campus.

To keep up with their work and updates, follow GSU’s Instagram page and at  greenwichsu.co.uk/officers on our website.

We wish them good luck as they embark on this new journey!
