I think the most important part of my queerness is finding and appreciating the joy and love that it brings. The queer friends that I have are some of the funniest, most compassionate and radical people that I know - I wouldn't give any of that joy and love up for anything, despite the challenges and discrimination which still exist in society. For me, queerness is about expansion, about seeing how the world can open up, endlessly, if we aren't constrained by heteronormative patriarchy.

The best gay years of my life have been post-university. If you are a queer student now and you don’t feel like you’ve found your community at university – you have so much time and experience to come.

My pride message:

Our trans siblings need us now, possibly more than ever, as transphobia and particularly transmisogny continues to dominate here in the UK. Across the LGBT+ umbrella, we need to be standing alongside each other and fighting for each other.
