Academic Appeals

During your time as a student the university will make decisions on your progress and performance in examinations and coursework and on your eligibility for the award of the qualification for which you are studying. If you think that such a decision is wrong or is based on incorrect or partial information, you may have the right to appeal against the decision.

Please be aware that the university has regulations and procedures for making an Academic Appeal and these should be followed closely at all times.

When considering an Academic Appeal you should:

Please note that you have 15 working days (working days do not include the weekends) from the date on the letter notifying you of the PAB decision.

Please be aware that issues of academic judgment are outside the scope of the procedures and cannot be challenged by an Academic Appeal.

The Office of Independent Ajudicator for Education (OIA)

The OIA is an independent body set up to review student complaints. Free to students, the OIA deals with individual complaints against Higher Education Institutions in England and Wales.

If you are not satisfied with outcomes from internal procedures and have been give a completion of Procedure letter you can take up a complaint with the OIA. For more information please visit http://oiahe.org.uk.


It is important that you contact the SUUG Advice Service at suugadvice@gre.ac.uk as soon as possible if you feel you have a case to appeal the University's decision.
