Safety and Security on Campuses - Collaborated closely with the University's Head of Estate and Facilities to assess vulnerable areas on our campuses, to guarantee the complete safety of students throughout all University locations.
-The University is examining the necessity of body-worn cameras for all security personnel
-Evaluating the effectiveness of our current CCTV system
-Exploring modern solutions and assessing the potential need for a 24/7 monitored CCTV system
-Updating the access control system
-Ensuring a visible patrolling team across all campuses
-Engaging in discussions with law enforcement to be present on campus for incident response
Sports at Greenwich - Following numerous discussions and collaborative efforts with the University, sports facilities have been established at the Greenwich campus. These spaces provide an opportunity for students to gather with their peers, socialise, and make use of their time during breaks between classes.
International Advice Services – Drop-ins at Greenwich and Medway
-Collaborated closely with the Senior International Student Adviser to establish a drop-in system for international students
-Drop-ins will commence in January where students will have the opportunity to discuss their concerns with the highly trained International Student Advice team of the University
-Details on how to book appointments will be available on the University’s website soon. Follow GSU on social media to be the first to hear about it!
Working Hour Campaign - Anuj is campaigning to increase the number of hours International students on Student visas can work.
The campaign is still underway, and there has been a lot of progress so far:
-The Working Hour Campaign Petition is currently under review by the GOV.UK petition site.
-Supported by 10 additional Student Union leaders.
-The campaign has received coverage in various press outlets.
-A recent communication letter has been received from the office of the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.
-Engaged in a discussion and debate at the 2023 NUS Conference.
-The National Union of Students (NUS) has collaborated as a team to advance this initiative.
-Recently received an invitation to participate as a panelist in the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on student and work affairs.
