At Greenwich Students’ Union (GSU) we take bold steps towards a more sustainable future, leading the way with innovative practices aimed at reducing environmental impact across all our operations. As part of our commitment to sustainability, GSU has introduced several measures that not only promote eco-friendly practices but also encourage students and staff to participate in these green initiatives.

At the forefront of these initiatives are the compostable boxes and cups now available at all GSU outlets. These items, designed for both in-house service and takeaway, including coffees and food, are made from materials that can be composted, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. This move is a significant step towards minimizing the carbon footprint of the university’s catering services.

Moreover, GSU is proud to announce that many of the clothing items available in our Greenwich Lookbook store and on our website are produced by Neutral, a market-leading and certified manufacturer of sustainable apparel. Neutral’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility aligns with GSU’s values, ensuring that our merchandise not only looks good but also does good.

In an effort to further reduce waste, GSU has implemented a rigorous waste sorting system in all its outlets. This system ensures that recyclable materials are not contaminated by non-recyclable waste, thereby increasing the efficiency of recycling processes and reducing the environmental impact of our operations.

Recognizing the importance of sustainable materials, our Marketing team is dedicated to ensuring that printed materials ordered for various teams are made from recycled materials as much as possible. This initiative not only supports recycling industries but also significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with producing new paper products.

These initiatives are part of a broader sustainability strategy embraced by GSU, aimed at fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the university community. By integrating sustainable practices into our operations, we are not only contributing to the well-being of our planet but also setting an example for our students and staff to follow.

GSU is committed to continuing its journey towards sustainability, exploring new ways to reduce its environmental footprint, and encouraging the entire Greenwich community to join in these efforts. Together, we can make a difference, ensuring a greener, more sustainable future for all.
