WHAT CAN I RUN FOR?

 

In this election, the Greenwich student population will elect:
- 4 GSU Officers (Paid and full-time)
- 16 Faculty Officers (Voluntary and part-time: 4 per faculty).

You can run for one of the GSU Officer roles no matter what year of study you are in. Please note, the role does have a lot more time commitments when campaigning during the election. If elected, you will need to be able to start your job as GSU Officer on June 17th 2019.

The Faculty Officer role is voluntary and undergone alongside your studies, so you need be continuing your studies for the 2019/2020 academic year.


GSU Officers
 

GSU Officers are four elected students who represent the concerns and views of individuals, groups or the whole student body on issues such as welfare, academic, social and financial.

This is a full-time paid position of £24,000, where if elected, you take a year out of your studies (or afterwards if you run in your final year) from June 2019 to June 2020 to fulfil the role. One of the four officers will be elected as GSU President (the candidate with the most votes).

Faculty Officers
 

This a voluntary position, if elected, you do alongside your studies for the next academic year from May 2019 to June 2020. If you live outside of London, we do offer travel reimbursements when you are attending meeting at other campuses.

Faculty Officers represent the concerns and views of students on every course within their faculty. This will predominately encompass the academic interests of students such as teaching, learning resources, assessments and fostering a thriving community for all.

Common tasks in Officer roles and qualities needed are highly desired by employers such as drive, leadership, influencing, multitasking, organising, communication and negotiation skills.

GSU prides itself on its ability to provide Officers with an extensive training package of training days, one-to-one support and mentoring while they are in their role.

 

 

Provides you a platform to empower the lives of others

You lead the change through organising events, campaigns and lobbying the University.

By having an active role you'll meet people from just about every course at the University, and from many different countries as well as forming long-lasting friendships. 

 

A truly unique experience at work

One minute you might be campaigning with students and the next, sat at senior level University meetings negotiating a better academic experience for students. 

 

An exciting experience getting students to vote for you
