Your Next VP Education
My name is Mandy Farries, I’m a 3rd year BA Languages & International Relations student.
I’m a Senior Student Ambassador at the university, I’ve also worked as a variety of roles at the Students’ Union, and I'm a member of the Politics and LGBT society.
Influencing policy to represent the voice of the people is my passion; I want to use the skills and networks I’ve developed at Greenwich to influence great change for everyone!
Here are my goals:
Getting Your Degree
-
Continue to improve our academic representation systems --for example by creating a digital platform for students to voice concerns with regard to education and wellbeing issues.
-
More amenities and scholarships for ALL students.
-
Ensure more key course texts are available as physical copies or e-resources through our libraries.
-
Push for an earlier release of exam and graduation dates and the enforcement of a uniform coursework feedback system.
-
Make additional course costs more transparent and lobby to eliminate them where possible.
-
Lobby for a printing budget to cover the cost of printing coursework.
Employability and Wellbeing
-
Tailor the employability advice scheme and career resources to better address your personal needs or immigration regulations.
-
Work with wellbeing teams to ensure there are more accessible advice services for all students when starting-- and through the duration of-- their degree.
-
Keep students aware of national and local education policies which may affect their university experience and lobby towards more just policies.
-
Change the focus of our wellbeing services from the ‘average student’ to better help those who identify as disabled, parents, carers, commuters, etc.
I want to maximise the potential of the amazing, diverse students at our University,
so make yours an educated vote: Mandy Farries for VP Education!
