Green tips

We're encouraging you to try out these simple ways to become greener every day.

Use bar soaps to save on single use plastic!

You can find hand soap, dish soap, shampoo and even conditioner in a bar from various retailers.

Hold on to your glass jars and containers.

You can re-use these for food, knick-knacks, crafts and even use them to create nice decorations.

Invest in re-usable cups and flasks.

Not only are they better for the environment, but they're cute and stylish too. You will also save money in the long term.

Shop second-hand.

Try shopping second-hand in your local charity shops to give things a second (or third, or fourth!) life. Places like the British Heart Foundation shops offer all sorts of home goods online and in stores, for example!

Be smart with water.

Not only can conserving water protect our planet, but can also save you money. This can be as simple as turning off the tap, switching to showers, use leftover cooking water and be sure that the dishwasher is full before turning it on.

Save on plastic by bringing your own canvas tote shopping.

Plastic bags are non-biodegradable and can take up to 1,000 years to decompose.

Recycle.

Simple everyday decisions can have a big impact. Regularly recycle with the correct bins around campus and at home.
